MORNINGSIDE AG PROGRAM DONATES PRODUCTS TO THE FOOD BANK





STUDENTS AND STAFF FROM MORNINGSIDE UNIVERSITY’S APPLIED AGRICULTURE AND FOOD STUDIES PROGRAM DONATED FOOD FROM THEIR CAMPUS GARDEN TO THE FOOD BANK OF SIOUXLAND ON MONDAY.

VALERIE PETERSEN, DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE FOOD BANK, SAYS IT IS A GREAT PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY TO GET FRESHLY GROWN PRODUCE:

A LARGE SELECTION OF FRESH VEGETABLES WERE LOADED ONTO A FOOD BANK TRUCK BY STUDENTS AND STAFF THAT HOT AFTERNOON:

IN SUMMER, STUDENTS AND STAFF TAKE CARE OF THE GARDEN.

DAN WITTEN IS AN ASSOCIATED PROFESSOR OF AGRICULTURE AT MORNINGSIDE AND A MEMBER OF THE FOOD BANK BOARD.

HE SAYS EVERYONE AGREES TO MAKE THIS A PERMANENT PARTNERSHIP:

STUDENTS ALSO DONATED FOOD TO LOCAL PANTRIES, INCLUDING ONE HUNDRED POUNDS OF CUCUMBERS TO GRACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, LOCATED NEXT TO CAMPUS.
