Cale Michael Snyder, 50, Alfred Station

Cale Michael Snyder, 50, Alfred Station

Cale Michael Snyder, 50, of Alfred Station, NY, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was the son of Ron and Kathy Snyder of Alfred Station.

A graduate of Alfred Almond Central School and Alfred State College, he has worked at Performance Automotive Trucking and Excavating, PTC Contracting and Alfred Ceramic Enterprises.

Cale’s maternal grandparents, Marty and Emmie Curran, and his paternal grandfather, Ken Snyder, all of Alfred, predeceased him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Gabe and Kelly Snyder; his paternal grandmother, Liz Malling; his step-grandmother, Patty Curran; five aunts, Shelley (Ken) Blakey, Sharon (Tim) Crowe, Chris (Joe) Ingalls, Tracy (Dave) DeFelice, and Laurie Pazdernik; five uncles, Phil (Len) Curran, Mike (Eileen) Curran, Pat (Jen) Curran, Chris (Daffney) Curran, and Mike (Sue) Snyder; and many cousins.

Cale was an extremely talented welder, artist, poet and writer who could repair anything mechanical. In his youth he loved skiing and drag racing his 1974 Dodge Dart. He traveled to race tracks all over the Northeast and raced with his father. There was never a more kind-hearted, gentle man, especially towards animals. He could not bear to see any living thing suffer.

He leaves a huge hole in our hearts that can never be filled, but we are convinced that he was guided to heaven by his Grandpa Curran, who was his hero, and his Grandma Curran. We are convinced that two of his best friends who died before him were also there to welcome him.

There will be no visiting hours. Cale’s ashes will be interred at the Curran/MacCrea Family Cemetery on Waterwells Road, per family wishes.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

Donations in Cale’s name can be made to the Hornell Area Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.
