Walmart pickpocket confronted before fleeing store

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a female suspect accused of reaching into another woman’s purse and stealing her wallet at an Ocala Walmart.

According to MCSO, the theft occurred around 11:40 a.m. on Monday, August 19, at the Walmart at 34 Bahia Avenue in Ocala.

The sheriff’s office stated that the female victim was in the produce section of the store when she looked away from her purse “for a brief moment.” While the victim was distracted, the female suspect stole the victim’s Louis Vuitton purse from her purse.

The victim told officers that she followed the suspect to the exit and noticed a “purse-shaped bulge” in the suspect’s shirt. When the victim confronted the suspect about the theft, the suspect ran out of the store and drove away in a black Hyundai SUV.

A detective identified the man listed as the registered owner of the SUV. However, according to the MCSO, the detective was unable to identify the female suspect who fled the store in the vehicle.
