HOUSTON — A homicide investigation is underway at Rice University Monday night after a student and a man were found dead, according to Houston police.
Police said a homicide had occurred at Jones College, a residential building on campus. The call came in around 4:50 p.m.
Investigators said a female student was found dead in her dorm room during a welfare check. A man, who is not a student, was also found dead from a gunshot wound.
Campus authorities asked all students to remain in their rooms until the crime scene was secured. Faculty and staff were asked to remain safe until 7:30 p.m.
All classes and activities for Monday have been cancelled.
