Pennsylvania man sentenced to more than ten years in prison for raping 15-year-old girl in Giant grocery store parking lot

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Sellersville man was sentenced to 12.5 to 25 years in prison for Rape of a 15-year-old girl in the parking lot of a Giant grocery storeThe Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday.

Miguel Angel Sanchez, 33, pleaded guilty in May to multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, involuntary sexual abuse, human trafficking and other related crimes, prosecutors said. With that plea, the 33-year-old admitted that the evidence presented against him was sufficient to convict him at trial, officials said.

Sanchez’s sentencing follows an investigation that began on October 24, 2023. Quakertown police said they received a report that a 15-year-old girl was raped the night before, Monday, October 23, in the parking lot of the Giant grocery store at 1465 W. Broad Street in Quakertown.

The 15-year-old told police that a man, later identified as Sanchez, raped her in his car in the parking lot.

The girl told police she had only met Sanchez once before and they had exchanged contact information over Snapchat. She said he asked her for nude videos and videos of her engaging in sexual acts in exchange for money. Police said Sanchez also asked a 16-year-old girl, a friend of the 15-year-old, for the same type of videos over Snapchat.

On Monday, a Common Pleas Court judge called Sanchez “despicable” and said, “I simply cannot come to terms with the facts of this case,” prosecutors said.

Officials said the 15-year-old spoke in court, as did her mother, who called Sanchez “pure evil.”

According to prosecutors, Sanchez was sentenced to five years of probation in addition to his 12.5 to 25 year sentence in state prison. He was also classified as a sexually violent offender by the Sex Offender Assessment Board and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
