Last meal? Time is running out at this St. Cloud restaurant

Last meal? Time is running out at this St. Cloud restaurant

UPDATE:

The restaurant will be closing in a few weeks, so you have limited time to grab a meal at Mongo’s.

They will close in September. The restaurant will be closed for a few weeks for renovations and a change of ownership. It will be a HuHot. If you don’t know it, it’s the same type of restaurant. A Mongolian grill. Same concept.

ORIGINAL STORY:

As I was mindlessly scrolling through social media, like many people do, I noticed this post about a local restaurant announcing a change/closure. This restaurant is one that a lot of people really love, but it’s also one of those restaurants that you don’t necessarily think of right away. It’s one of those restaurants that when you think of restaurants, it pops into your head and “hey yeah let’s go there, I love that place.”

I’m talking about Mongo’s Mongolian Grill. It’s currently located in the Hom Furniture complex across from Crossroad’s Mall. The restaurant opened in Winnipeg, Canada in 2004. That’s where most of their locations are still located, as well as the location here in St. Cloud.

If you visit Mongosgrill.com, you will see that St. Cloud is still offered as a career option.

According to the comments on this post, it looks like Mongo’s is closing and becoming HuHot. This isn’t fully confirmed yet, but it makes sense. If you’re not familiar with HuHot, it’s also a Mongolian BBQ restaurant. I’ve eaten at several of these restaurants in different cities and it’s good…but I have to tell you, I always found Mongo’s much better. Whenever we made it back to St. Cloud before we moved back here, we made sure to stop by Mongo’s and have a bite to eat.

That’s definitely a shame, but at least if you like Mongolian restaurants, it won’t disappear completely, just be different. And not as good, but OK in my opinion. You still have until the beginning of September to come to Mongo’s.
