One of Savannah’s most outstanding barbecue spots has earned a spot on Southern Living’s list of the 22 Best New Barbecue Joints in the South of 2024. It’s one of two spots in Georgia, along with Owens & Hull of Smyrna.

South Carolina and Texas top the list with five BBQ restaurants, while Tennessee contributed three more establishments.

Ranked 20th on Southern Living’s list and headed by pitmaster Terren Williams, Slow Fire BBQ has transformed a school bus into a barbecue oasis at its upcoming storefront at 1902 Waters Ave., Savannah.

Opened in January 2023, this eatery is known for its locally sourced beef and pork, as well as its shrimp-seasoned Lowcountry pork sausage.

Slow Fire prides itself on its close relationships with local farmers, ensuring that food is sourced responsibly and honestly, allowing customers to understand the journey of their food.

By smoking over a pure wood fire and using time-honored techniques, Slow Fire creates a carefully crafted experience with no shortcuts.
