Man from Marion turns himself in after reported robbery at supermarket

A Marion man turned himself in to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office on August 25, two days after a reported robbery at a Marion convenience store.

According to a Marion Police Department news release based on video surveillance footage, the robbery suspect that occurred just before 6 a.m. on August 23 at Samir’s Convenience Store No. 4, located at 1252 Rutherford Road in Marion, is 22-year-old Anthony Brian Redd.

On Aug. 25, Redd was in Henderson County when he decided to turn himself in, the release said. Redd contacted authorities by phone. Officers with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office tracked down his whereabouts and took him into custody without incident, the release said.

Redd was charged with one count of common law robbery and is currently being held at the Henderson County Detention Center on $12,500 bail.

According to the Marion Police Department report, Redd entered the store Friday morning and asked the clerk for money from the register. The clerk gave him a total of $115 from the register and Redd left the store on foot. Police believe he had a vehicle nearby, which he then drove away from the store. Redd was unarmed, the press release states.

In the press release, Marion police thanked the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in arresting Redd.
