Military History Weekend at Dellwood Park

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Township Park District will host its annual Military History Weekend on September 7 and 8 at Dellwood Park, 199 E. Woods Drive in Lockport.

Events begin at 9:30 a.m. both days. The annual event will showcase camps and battles from the Civil War, World War I, World War II and Vietnam, the park district said in a news release.

All veterans are welcome to enjoy free food and beverages from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. both days in the Veteran Hospitality Tent. The Veterans Tent is sponsored by Lockport VFW Post 5788 and AARP.

There will also be pyrotechnics sponsored by Heidelberg Materials, military vehicles, uniforms and equipment from various eras, photo opportunities, a Rockford Peaches baseball game, World War II memorabilia and vendors, concessions and a beer bunker, and more.

11am Battle of World War II
12 o’clock Sweet Reminder – Hits from the 40s, 50s and 60s
13:00 Civil War Battle
3:00 p.m., Battle of World War II
4 p.m. Brass from the Past – Chicago’s best cover band covers the hits of Motown, Pop,
Jazz, R&B, soul, rock and funk
18:00 Bridge skirmish (west of the pedestrian bridge)
18:45 Vietnam battle with pyrotechnics
8:00 p.m. USO Show with Silver Bullet – Bob Segar Tribute Band
10:30 p.m. Park closes

8 September
9:30 a.m. Encore Concert Band
11am Battle of World War II
12 o’clock Sweet Reminder – Hits from the 40s, 50s and 60s
12pm, WWII Girls Baseball Living History Demo. Meet the Rockford Peaches!

This event is sponsored by Citgo, Heidelberg Materials, AARP and VFW Post 5788.

Tickets can be purchased online and cost $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, seniors 55 and older, and veterans.
