Work has begun – or perhaps the better word is “preparatory work” – on a future drive-thru cafe in Loudoun. We are talking about the county’s second location of The human bean.

Last November, The Burn reported on plans for a Human Bean location in the South Riding/Stone Ridge area just off Highway 50 in southern Loudoun County.

The Express Café is being built on a site next to the new Arby’s restaurant in the intersection of 50 and Gateway Village Place.

Some earthmoving equipment is on site, permits are in place and some of the site work has begun. Site work involves workers preparing the site and laying underground pipes and cables before the actual construction of the building begins.

The area’s first Human Bean drive-thru cafe opened in Sterling in November 2022.

If construction of the new location goes similarly to the previous one, a large flatbed truck with a prefabricated cafe on it will drive up and be lowered into place by a large crane.

Although work is currently underway on the site, it is not yet known when Human Bean’s new location will open.
