Washington man arrested after brawl at Pentagon subway station: police

ARLINGTON, VA — A 33-year-old Washington, D.C. man faces multiple charges, including assault on a police officer, in connection with a reported robbery Friday afternoon in Pentagon City.

At about 2:39 p.m., a theft prevention officer flagged down an officer in the 1100 block of S. Joyce Street, Arlington County police said. The officer had been responding to another 911 call about a robbery.

The officer found that a man had entered a Pentagon City store, began hiding merchandise, and then left the store without paying. Outside, the man was confronted by anti-theft employees. In response, he verbally threatened them and indicated that he was armed. He then left the area on foot, according to police.

An officer found the suspect in the Pentagon subway station and ordered the man to stop. The man refused to comply. Eventually, two officers arrested the man with the help of theft prevention personnel. During the scuffle, the two officers suffered minor injuries.

The suspect, identified as Carlos Brummitt of Washington, DC, provided false personal information when arrested, according to police. He was charged with assault on police, robbery, identity theft and obstruction of justice and then held without bail.
