Apple may be best known for its in-ear AirPods when it comes to sound, but headphone lovers should also consider the AirPods Max. As part of the Labor Day deal, these headphones are 27 percent off, from $549 to $399. The $150 discount is just $4 above their all-time low on Prime Day, and they’re available in every color. The AirPods Max are a solid option for anyone who wants to stay in the Apple family without worrying about losing a tiny earbud. The biggest problem is that they’re expensive, but this Labor Day sale makes them a better buy.

The Apple AirPods Max launched in 2020 as the company’s first foray into the headphone space, and have remained the only option ever since. We gave the headphones an 84 in our review thanks to many features we liked and a few things we weren’t impressed with. We liked the AirPods Max’s active noise-cancelling features and easy-to-use buttons—like when toggling ANC to Transparency mode. The headphones also offer balanced sound and have a 20-hour charge time with ANC and spatial audio enabled.

As we said, the biggest problem with these headphones is probably the price, but this sale helps a little. Other aspects we were less impressed with include their weight at 385 grams – although the wider headband makes up for that. Also, the earbuds just aren’t that comfortable, with the rings noticeable after just a few minutes of wear.
