Completion of the new fire station in Summerdale remains on schedule, expected by November

SUMMERDALE, Alabama (WALA) – Work continues on a new fire station in the city of Summerdale.

Chief Michael Aaron says completion is on schedule by the end of November and that it is a big deal for the city.

“We are very proud of the hard work these guys are doing and are excited to complete this fire station and open it to the community,” said Chief Aaron.

Once completed, it will be the second fire station here in the city. And that’s important because of the growth.

And this second station will go a long way in protecting new homes and businesses.

“We are ready. We serve a community that is growing very quickly. Over 3,000 single-family homes are coming to Summerdale. Some businesses as well. So we are excited to get this fire station up and running and serving the public,” said Chief Aaron.

It will also provide another job for the dozens of paid and volunteer firefighters. Chief Aaron says the volunteers are also vital to the department, so this will only help them.

“Volunteers keep this system running. They’re the ones who follow up on the teams and the calls. And they come and work. We couldn’t do any of this without them,” said Chief Aaron.

And that’s not all, the department is also getting a new fire engine. It should be there by April 2025.
