Plans for a 54-story multi-use tower by Foster + Partners in Miami are coming into focus with the release of new concept drawings depicting a new headquarters for hedge fund Citadel. The tower would house 212 hotel rooms on its top floors, with a 34-story office area and additional retail space in front. Local media reported that the planned height is 1,032 feet, which would make it the second tallest building in Miami after Carlo Ott’s upcoming Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Residences.

Nigel Dancey, studio head at Foster + Partners, describes their design: “The conical shape of the tower unifies its various functions, improves structural efficiency and creates an elegant accent in the Miami skyline. An environmentally friendly facade draws on traditional Florida architecture and features a louvre system that provides a pleasant interior environment while maximizing the views from this fantastic location.”
