Regulars, closed restaurants: Readers choose Vienna’s best restaurants

VIENNA, VA — One of the highlights of living in Vienna is undoubtedly the variety of restaurants you can find there. The city offers a mix of new restaurants and long-standing establishments with enduring traditions. But residents can also feel nostalgic for restaurants that are no longer open.

According to Christine Fehd, there are “many reasons” why the Vienna Inn is the best traditional restaurant.

“I always appreciate the history of this place,” Fehd said. “They are so generous to Madison HS. There are no surprises in the menu or the service. Cheapest 3-egg omelet around!”

“Good, consistent food and reasonable prices. Love that they added some salads to the menu,” added reader Kathy Isaac.

Cafe Renaissance delights guests with its French menu and personalized service, including from owner Saeed Abtahi. Kathleen Sheridan enjoys the restaurant’s tea service, which is offered two Saturdays a month.

“The staff and owner are amazing. The cocktails are delicious! The quality of the food and service is unbeatable,” shared one anonymous reader.

Ristorante Bonaroti is another long-established restaurant that has been serving Italian food for over three decades. Reader Robert says the restaurant has a “long history of providing excellent food and service.”

Another Italian favorite is Pazzo Pomodoro. Reader Valerie Kappler says the restaurant offers “great food. Great staff. Relaxed neighborhood atmosphere.”

Reader Suzy recommends Pazzo Pomodoro because it is “family owned” and “the food is always good and the service is excellent.”

Plaka Grill is a fast-casual restaurant that will satisfy your appetite for Greek food. Chef and owner Peter Drosos is a Madison High School graduate whose family has lived in Vienna since 1955. Drosos brought his culinary training from Athens, Greece.

“I love Mediterranean food and Plaka is the perfect place for it. It was my favorite restaurant in Vienna and I still remember the first time I ate there. I had to go back the very next day to try it again!” shared reader Dee.

The Virginian, a fixture since 1965, remains a popular breakfast spot, with readers praising the restaurant’s quality service.

“They make a great, old-fashioned but delicious breakfast. There’s something for everyone,” said reader Sharon M.
