Long Island man arrested for gun display at taco restaurant

A Long Island man was arrested Monday for allegedly pointing a gun at a taco restaurant employee who did not understand his order, authorities and the restaurant owner said.

Kevin Warren, 62, was charged with menacing after he had an angry outburst at Tony’s Tacos in Franklin Square at 8:50 p.m. Friday that was caught on camera, Nassau police said.

Surveillance footage obtained by News 12 Long Island shows the man tugging on the employee’s arm, apparently in an attempt to snatch a bag of groceries she was holding.

The suspect then lifts up his shirt so that something is visible in his waistband and the woman takes a step back, the video shows.

According to the police report, the man pulled out a gun.

Julia Scotto, who owns the Italian-inspired taco joint’s four Long Island locations with her husband, Mike Scotto, told The Post it all started with a bad phone connection.

Scotto said the 21-year-old employee who took the order couldn’t understand what he was saying because his voice kept breaking. Then he came in and confronted her.

“He came in, found the girl who had taken the phone order, grabbed her hand and showed her that he had a gun on his hip,” Scotto said.

Scotto said the woman was very shaken and disturbed after the encounter, but was “doing better” after her arrest.
