I can already see the comments: “Oh man, another fast food restaurant.” (I’m sure that will probably be accompanied by an eye-roll emoji.) Anyway, another fast-casual restaurant chain has announced an expansion to the Hoosier State, although this one is a little different than some others that have been announced recently. This announcement comes alongside news of other fast food expansions in Indiana, including Culver’s and a new chain called Smalls Sliders.

What is CHOP5 Salad Kitchen?

CHOP5 Salad Kitchen specializes in custom-made salads, rice bowls, wraps and other healthy menu items. According to Nation’s Restaurant News, the chain was founded by Brian Mills and Allen Hertzman, who enlisted the help of longtime franchise owners Philip Horn, Patrick Gaunce and Wade Oney. The number five in the name refers to the five founding members. CHOP5 opened its first location in 2016 near the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, Ohio. Since then, two more locations have opened, including a second in Columbus and one in Orlando, Florida.

When is CHOP5 Salad Kitchen coming to Indiana?

CHOP5 Salad Kitchen has taken Columbus by storm, so much so that the owners are now looking for franchise opportunities in Indiana. According to the Indianapolis Recorder, CHOP5 has its eye on the Hoosier Capitol for its next franchise. Mills told the newspaper that while the company wants to expand, the basics are still important and they’re just getting started. However, he said the first franchise could open in Indiana as early as 2025. If successful, additional locations could open elsewhere. Who knows? Evansville could be next on the list.
