Restaurant expands from Klyde Warren Park to hidden waterfront spot in D-FW

Maybe for Miriam Latina Cocina it’s all about the view of Dallas.

The restaurant, which opened in 2019 across from Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, will expand to Cypress Waters, the waterfront community off I-635 near the intersection of Coppell, Carrollton, Irving and Dallas.

Miriam 2.0 is expected to open around December 1, 2024, in the space of the former Ascension Coffee restaurant. The development is off the main roads but near a once-serene lake that now hosts Independence Day parties, evening concerts and the like. Dallas developer Billingsley Co. is building a 1,000-acre development with more than 3,000 apartment buildings and over a dozen restaurants, as well as ample office space.

More than 16,000 employees work in Cypress Waters. Many of them work for major companies based in the neighborhood, including 7-Eleven, Nokia, At Home Group, Smoothie King Franchise Inc. and Brinker International (which owns Chili’s and Maggianos).

Miriam will be Dallas restaurant owner Shannon Wynne and his team’s fourth restaurant in the new building. Their existing restaurants in Cypress Waters are Flying Saucer, Flying Fish and Rodeo Goat.

“We are incredibly grateful for the partnership and trust that restaurateur Shannon Wynne has placed in Cypress Waters,” said Tracy Underwood, senior vice president of asset management at Billingsley, in a statement. “We are confident that Miriam’s amazing cuisine, paired with the stunning lakefront patio, will be popular with the surrounding community, apartment residents and office tenants.”

Miriam is named after chef Miriam Jimenez, a native of the Dominican Republic, who is an exuberant host. Her menu includes sharing dishes like yuca fritters and empanadas, salads with grilled chicken, shrimp, steak or salmon, tacos and enchiladas of all kinds, and mains like seared whole snapper, filleted mahi mahi and cabrito with cilantro rice and sweet plantains.

For brunch, the menu includes short rib enchiladas with eggs, breakfast tacos and chilaquiles.

Miriam’s menu at Cypress Waters will be finalized closer to the opening date, Wynne said.

He said of Miriam: “I think the people in this part of the world will love her.”

Miriam Latina Cocina is located at 3121 Olympus Blvd., Coppell and is scheduled to open in late 2024.
