Where in Portland, Maine can you find a place open year-round that is NOT LL Bean?

It’s a bar called Fore Play Sports Pub in Portland’s Old Port. If you’ve been in Southern Maine for any length of time and have been to the Old Port, you’ve been to Fore Play. But I had no idea it was open 365 days a year!

I’m pretty sure my small stature and desire for a drink caused me to miss this sign the dozens of times I’ve passed by here, looking for another drink or an afternoon snack. But Fore Play has been around for nearly 30 years and is a favorite among sports fans.

At Fore Play Sports Pub you can watch your favorite New England team

There are two floors of 34 TVs, and if your game isn’t on, it will be. There’s exactly the menu you’d expect at a sports pub: burgers, chicken wings, pizza, chili, and more.

I haven’t tested the theory that it’s open 365 days a year and I’ve heard they’re closed on Mondays. But that was in the winter, so it could have been bad weather. I mean, other than LL Bean, I couldn’t name another place in Maine that’s open 365 days a year.

And no, 7-Eleven stores don’t count.

If you’re willing to test the theory and see if Fore Play is open 365 days a year, it’s not a bad experiment.
