Armie Hammer says he’s selling his truck because he “can’t afford” gas

Armie Hammer trades in his beloved truck for a “tiny” hybrid as he returns to Los Angeles to start a “new life.”

The actor shared a video on social media from a CarMax in California, in which he said he had been back in Los Angeles for a few weeks after retreating to the Cayman Islands following his cannibalism scandal.

“This is my truck. I bought it as a Christmas present in 2017 because I’ve had pickups for a long time and I love this truck. I’ve taken it camping and cross country several times and done long road trips,” he said. “Since I’ve been back in LA, I’ve put $400 or $500 worth of gas on it and I can’t afford it anymore. I can’t afford the gas anymore.”

Hammer went on to explain that the truck holds many memories: bringing his children home from the hospital when they were injured, many trips, etc. “Here’s to a fresh start,” he added, noting that he will trade it in for a car that only uses “$10 in gas a month.”

The Call me by your name The star left the country and worked for several years as a timeshare salesman in the Caribbean islands after being accused of rape, cannibalism and sexual abuse.

In an interview in June, Hammer admitted he was “grateful” for the allegations that turned his career upside down three years ago.

“Whatever people said, whatever happened, I’m at a point in my life now where I’m grateful for every single bit of it,” he said in an episode of Painful lessons Podcast. “I’m actually at a point now where I’m really grateful for it, because before all of this happened to me, I wasn’t doing well in my life. I was never satisfied. I never had enough. I was never at a point where I was happy with myself.”
