FOXBORO – The Patriots signed four players off the waivers list Wednesday afternoon.
The Patriots were able to sign offensive tackles Demontrey Jacobs and Zachary Thomas from the Broncos and Rams respectively, linebacker Curtis Jacobs from the Chiefs and defensive tackle Eric Johnson from the Colts.
After drafting their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday, the Patriots have already traded away 7.5% of their roster. The Patriots will need to release four players from their initial 53-man roster to make room for Jacobs, Thomas, Jacobs and Johnson.
Jacobs, 25, was undrafted by USF in 2023. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman played 101 snaps as left tackle in this summer’s preseason.
Thomas, 26, was selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of San Diego State. Last season, he played 35 snaps as left tackle for the Rams. This preseason, he switched to guard.
Jacobs, 22, went undrafted out of Penn State this spring. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Johnson, 26, has spent two seasons with the Colts since being selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Missouri State. He has recorded 18 tackles and one sack in 28 career games.
