A suspect has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery and murder of a North Miami Beach tobacco store employee that was captured on video.

William Robinson, 22, was arrested Tuesday on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery in connection with the June 11 killing of 35-year-old Salem Albakri, an arrest warrant said.

Albakri had been working at Miami Cloudz at 2063 Northeast 163rd Street when he was found with a gunshot wound in a pool of blood on the floor of the store.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Surveillance cameras recorded the entire incident that led to his killing.

The footage shows four men entering the store, approaching Albakri and then asking him to show them several items.

At one point, one of the suspects pulls a gun from the front pocket of his red hoodie and points it at Albakri.

Albakri saw the gun and tried to flee to the back of the store, but the gunman fired a shot, hitting Albakri in the back, the warrant said.

The suspects ran out of the store, but Robinson grabbed a large jar believed to contain marijuana and fled with it, the arrest warrant states.

The footage shows Robinson placing his hand on the glass counter while looking at the goods. Investigators were also able to take fingerprints on the counter, which later turned out to be Robinson’s fingerprints, the arrest warrant states.

According to police, William Robinson was one of the suspects in the June 11, 2024, murder of Salem Albakri. Surveillance footage showed Robinson placing his hand on a counter at Miami Cloudz in North Miami Beach, which helped investigators track him down, an arrest warrant said.

Investigators also managed to run a surveillance photo through a facial recognition program, which confirmed Robinson as one of the suspects, the arrest warrant said.

A records check revealed that Robinson was arrested in Miami Beach on Sept. 12, 2023. The arresting officer identified him from surveillance cameras and also provided body-worn camera footage from the 2023 arrest that confirmed his identity, the warrant said.

According to records, Robinson was taken to jail, where he remained held without bail.

Authorities did not say whether other suspects had been identified or arrested.
