Uma Thurman stars alongside A Quiet Place and X-Men in new action film

One of Hollywood’s most popular action movie stars is set to hit the big time in the upcoming film. Ballerina Overdrive.



According to Deadline Uma Thurman has joined the cast for Ballerina Overdrive, an upcoming independent action film directed by Vicky Jewson. Kate Freund wrote the screenplay for Ballerina Overdrive, which will supposedly be about the following:a troupe of ballerinas struggle to survive as they attempt to escape a remote inn after their bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition.” Thurman will star alongside Lana Condor (Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse), Iris Apatow (Funny people), Millicent Simmonds (A quiet place), Maddie Ziegler (The Fallout) and Avantika (Graduation year).


The film is currently in production and no official release date has been announced yet. Ballerina Overdrive has seen some major casting changes, as Lena Headey, Yara Shahidi and Isabela Merced were originally set to star but are no longer attached to the project. Jewson’s previous work includes directing the film Closean action thriller with Noomi Rapace and three episodes of the Netflix series The Witcher: Blood OriginKelly McCormick, David Leitch, Bill Bindley, Mike Karz and Piers Tempest will serve as producers on the film.



Thurman will star alongside Charlize Theron in “The Old Guard 2.”

Thurman, best known for his iconic roles in pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill films, is still successful in the action genre. She will be seen alongside Charlize Theron in the upcoming Netflix sequel, The Old Guard 2although there have been some delays along the way. The film wrapped shooting several years ago, which raised doubts as to whether the film was officially shelved. However, Theron recently shared an update confirming that the sequel will still be released. The Old Guard 2 The release is planned for 2025.


The old guard is based on the comic book series of the same name by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández. The film was a huge hit for Netflix, reaching over 72 million households in the first four weeks of its release on the platform. Theron starred alongside KiKi Layne, Veronica Ngo, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Luca Marinelli. All three will return in the sequel, which is directed by Victoria Mahoney.
