Renovation work at Snow Hinton Park has been ongoing since November 2023 and is scheduled to be completed in the next few weeks.

Workers began improving the area by installing lighting and a security system to make the park safe for families and students.

“We’ve put in some new walking trails and paved a central area,” said Eric Thompson, construction manager for the city of Tuscaloosa. “We’ve built a new bathroom, renovated the existing gazebo and put a roof on one of the others. The irrigation system is pretty extensive.”

Thompson said it would be a nice place for families to spend time or take a walk. Visitor Maddie Wilson said the park will be a nice gathering place for local people and give students a place to go off campus.

The park is 40,000 acres in size and hosts events such as the Kentuck Festival of the Arts, which takes place on October 19 and 20.

Before the park can reopen, parking and some landscaping work must be completed. The city will announce the grand opening once a date is set.
