Visit a French restaurant in El Paso to celebrate the 2024 Paris Olympics

The French capital was in the spotlight for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and coverage often featured spectacular views of the historic Eiffel Tower – a stunning backdrop to the Games.

Preparations for this weekend’s closing ceremony are in full swing, and the United States leads the medal standings with 103 medals – 30 of them gold – as of Friday, August 9.

As the U.S. team advances to victory, El Paso residents can join in the festivities in the so-called “City of Love” by visiting a French restaurant on this side of the world.

From sweet and savory crêpes to buttery snails and delicious pastries, here are three French restaurants in the border region that you should try:

Entrecote & Co.

The best-selling appetizer here is escargot — snails cooked in butter, parsley, shallots and garlic sauce — according to a post on Entrecôte & Co.’s social media. The French restaurant, located at 5825 N Mesa St., offers endless menu options, including a charcuterie and cheese platter served with homemade French baguette and “chicken escalope,” a secret recipe that’s been around for generations and features French butter and capers.

Le Rendez-vous Café and French pastry shop

Fresh pastries await visitors at this Las Cruces restaurant at 2701 West Picacho Avenue. Le Rendez-vous Cafe & French Pastry prides itself on simple French dishes, a variety of coffees and delicious desserts – all a nod to a family bakery in the South of France, the website says. On the menu: eggs Benedict or sweeter cravings like eclairs, cakes and an endless selection of tarts. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The French Touch

The Shoppes at Solana is home to a restaurant that combines flavors from neighboring countries. Le French Touch is a tribute to France and Italy. The restaurant offers crepes – delicate, pancake-like wraps filled with fruit – and 14-inch pizzas with ingredients popular in both countries. Le French Touch is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the mall’s food court.
