Half Shell opens new restaurant in Let It Fly space in Germantown

A Memphis-based seafood restaurant is moving into the former Let It Fly Sports Bar space at 9091 Poplar Ave. in Germantown.

Jason Polley, managing leasing director and principal broker of StoneCrest Investments’ Memphis office, recently told The Commercial Appeal that Memphis-based restaurant Half Shell has leased the former space of Let It Fly, which closed in December 2023.

The 4,500-square-foot Germantown location will be the seafood restaurant’s third Memphis-area location. Half Shell was founded in 1973 and currently has locations at 688 S. Mendenhall Road in East Memphis and 7825 Winchester Road in Southeast Memphis.

Half Shell did not respond to several inquiries from The Commercial Appeal about plans for the new site.

Let It Fly, a concept by former Memphis Grizzlies player Mike Miller, opened in October 2019 at the StoneCreek Centre Shopping Mall in Germantown. The mall is managed by StoneCrest Investments. Polley said the former Let It Fly space seats about 140 people.
