1. Initiate satellite SOS

Pixel 9 owners can test the Satellite SOS feature. open Settings, Security & EmergencySatellite SOS and follow the demo instructions.
In an emergency situation without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, dial 911. If no network is detected, A red satellite SOS button will appear on your screen.
2. Fill out the emergency questionnaire

You will be given a questionnaire to describe your emergency. Choose from the following options:
– Illness or injury
– Vehicle or ship
– Lost, missing or captured
– Crime
– Fire
– Something else
There will be some follow-up questions, So answer them if relevant.
3. Notify emergency contacts

You have the option to notify your preset emergency contacts. If you do so, You will receive your location and details of the situation. In real emergencies, please note that your name and telephone number will also be passed on to the emergency services.
4. Connect to a satellite

Follow the on-screen instructions. Move your phone to find and connect to a satellite. Make sure the movements match the circle in the center.
5. Connection notification

Your phone will notify you when the connection to the satellite is established. Once the connection is established, an initial message will be sent describing your situation. During the demo you will not actually be connected to emergency services.
6. Send first message

In case of a real emergency, a message is sent to Garmin Response, the service that handles satellite SOS communications.
After the first message has been sent, you will be taken to the Google Messages app – where you can see what has been sent, get replies and have a two-way conversation with emergency services.
7. End the SOS session

To end the demo or when the emergency is resolved, Select End in the upper right corner. You will be asked if you need any more help before ending the session.
Remember, Satellite SOS is designed for real emergencies if no other means of communication are available.
