Walmart customers shocked: Price of everyday groceries triples within three months – Target sells them at half price

WALMART customers are angry over the price of a common grocery item that has tripled in the past few months.

A customer shared his shock when the price he paid for a carton of eggs rose to $16, but Target was selling that item for half the price.

Several Walmart customers shared pictures of the high prices they recently paid for eggs at the grocery chain.

Krystal Lynn posted screenshots of her Walmart grocery orders from June to August in a Facebook post.

The buyer reported that the price of a box of 60 eggs had increased by over $9.

Lynn shared screenshots of four grocery orders she made, including a 60-pack of large white eggs from Great Value.

When she first ordered the eggs on June 8, they cost $7.47, but on July 8, the price rose to $13.

The price of the eggs in Lynn’s next order fell to $10.96 on August 2 before skyrocketing to $16.83 on August 28.

“Look at the crazy egg prices the last few months!” Lynn wrote.

“This economy is crazy, end of story!” the buyer added.

“Walmart now thinks they’re stuffy, that’s the end of it.”

Another Facebook user described the price increase as “madness” in the comments on her post.

“I’m close to bankruptcy,” shouts Walmart customer who spent $108 on less than half of his shopping cart – I had to check my receipt

The current price of these eggs is $22.02 on the Walmart website.

Lynn wasn’t the only shopper to point out rising egg prices at Walmart.

Another customer (@slr3172020) shared a picture of another 60-pack of eggs at the retailer that cost $15.71.

She was angry about the cost and asked the retailer, “What’s going on?”

“Why have you raised the #prices for #food again,” wrote the X-user.

“Since when are #eggs a #luxury item?”

Target competed with Walmart by offering eggs at a lower price.

The retailer sold a 30-pack of large eggs for $5.59, according to its website.

Therefore, two packs of these Target eggs would cost $11.18, about half the price of a Walmart pack.

The US Sun has asked Walmart for comment.

Target price reductions

As The US Sun previously reported, Target announced that the chain had slashed prices on over 5,000 items.

Company CEO Brian Cornell revealed the four-word strategy that led to this change.

“But values are in our DNA,” he told CNBC.

“If you look back at the brand promise, ‘Expect more, pay less.’ That’s what we do every day,” he added.
