CHICAGO (CBS) – A group of thieves used a pickup truck to steal an ATM from a gas station in the south of the city early Thursday morning.

It happened just before 2 a.m. in the 7600 block of South Chicago Avenue.

Chicago police said five men removed the station’s security gate and front door before breaking into an ATM machine containing an undisclosed amount of money. The burglars then entered a black SUV, possibly a GMC Denali, and fled south.

The shop owner said that despite additional security measures, this was the second time his business had been affected.

“It happened within seconds. By the time the police arrived, they had already taken the ATMs and caused huge damage to the gas station,” he said.

The shop owner says this will cost him about five months’ profits.

No one has been in custody since Thursday.

The detectives from Area Two investigated.
