After closing last November, Spirit Halloween fans were eagerly awaiting its reopening. Augusta area residents won’t have to wait long.

The seasonal store announced on its website that it will open in a new location in the Augusta Exchange in September. It will be at 245 Robert C. Daniel Junior Parkway, where the Christmas Tree Shop used to be before the chain ceased operations last summer.

It’s currently unclear what other Spirit Halloween stores (if any) will open in the area. Documents provided by the company in July indicated Spirit would reopen its stores from last year at the defunct Sears in the Augusta Mall and the defunct BuyBuy Baby in the Augusta Exchange. Those documents did not list the Christmas Tree Shop location. Spirit was unable to provide further updates as of Thursday.

However, the new setting will also include a whole host of new Halloween items. This year’s new films will be highlighted with new costumes, including outfits for the summer blockbuster “Deadpool and Wolverine,” Disney’s “Descendants: The Rise of Red” and the big Pixar sequel “Inside Out 2.”

There will also be several new animatronics. Here are some of the most noticeable:

  • Victor and Emily from “Corpse Bride” are 6’1″ and 5’10” respectively. Both have blinking eyes, can rotate their upper bodies and recite lines from the Tim Burton classic. The two are sold separately, with Victory costing around $280 and Emily $300.
  • The towering Tallulah is a witch who stands less than 5 feet tall when powered down. However, she can suddenly jump up to 9 feet high. She is similar to Spirit’s very popular Hell Spawn animatronic, but Tallulah rises even higher. She can also talk and has glowing eyes. Tallulah costs about $330.
  • Terror Dog from “Ghostbusters” is about 3 feet tall and 5 feet long. It is a very realistic replica of the classic creature and its eyes glow red. The Hellhound costs about $600.
  • Cotton Candy Dan is 6′ tall and is a scary clown figure that looks like it is stirring cotton candy, only to have a scary head pop out of the cotton candy bucket and scream. The clown also talks with a moving mouth and glowing eyes while carnival music plays in the background. Cotton candy costs about $330.

Keep in mind that Spirit stores only stock limited quantities of each item, so if you see something you like online, be sure to snap it up early. Also, keep in mind that just because an item is available on the Spirit website doesn’t mean it will be in stock at a local Spirit store.
