Dāvis Bertāns could move to the Bay Area.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the 31-year-old was “invited” to a workout with the Golden State Warriors in order to secure an invitation to training camp.

Dāvis Bertāns has been invited to train for the Warriors while Golden State decides whether to invite the Latvian sniper to a training camp, league sources report @TheSteinLine.
Rudy Gay received an invitation to the Warriors’ training camp last season after similar auditions.

Bertāns played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Charlotte Hornets during the 2023–24 season. In 43 games during the 2023–24 season, he averaged 6.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists, including one starter.

He could potentially play as a backup for a Warriors team that gets a new look in 2024-25. Klay Thompson joined the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent and former All-Star Chris Paul also joined the San Antonio Spurs.

The most notable addition was Buddy Hield, who was supposed to fit into the core of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga. The Warriors finished 46-36 and failed to make the 2023-24 play-in tournament.

Bertāns has 45 playoff games under his belt and could be a cheap addition to a team that is hitting its salary cap, but he is not a game-changer and will rarely get a chance to play a role in the NBA.
