AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men’s soccer team under the 12th head coach Jared Embick will play the first of two home exhibition games when the Zips host Michigan at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday, August 11 at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the game against the Wolverines are available here: www.GoZips.com/Tickets. Fans are asked to park in lots 6, 9 and 10 surrounding InfoCision Stadium and Stile Athletics Field House. Complete parking information can be found here.


There will be no videos or live statistics for the friendly against the Wolverines.

Akron is expected to return six starters in 2024, including 2023 All-BIG EAST Conference players, seniors Jonas Buechte (Rantigen, Germany) and Malik Henry (Hamilton, Ontario).

The Zips are also strengthened by the return of key contributors for 2023 in Redshirt Junior Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Nebraska), redshirt senior Dyson flaps Layton, Utah), Juniors Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio), Ashton Kamdem (West Chester, Ohio) and Daragh Reilly (Meath, Ireland) and Senior Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal (Carbondale, Illinois).

Akron begins its 70th season of intercollegiate men’s soccer on Aug. 22 with a nonleague matchup against the Fighting Irish and 2024 NCAA College Cup finalist Notre Dame. Akron will face Ohio State in the Zips’ home opener on Aug. 25.

Akron concludes its exhibition campaign on Friday, August 16, when the Zips face Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Exchange Street, near Gate 1 on the southwest corner of the venue) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.


The University of Akron Athletic Department has announced that it will transition to cashless payments for all ticket, concession and merchandise purchases at all Akron athletic venues, concession stands and equipment stores beginning with the 2024-25 athletic season.
