In 2020, to mark the 500th anniversary of Raphael’s death, the most comprehensive exhibition of his works ever took place in Rome and Seventh Art Productions produced a documentary film about the exhibition and the artist.

The Park Theatre, 19 Main St. in Jaffrey, presents “Raphael Revealed” as part of its monthly “Exhibition on Screen” series on Wednesday, August 14, at 1:30 p.m.

Featuring more than 200 works, including paintings and drawings – over 100 of which are brought together for the first time – this exhibition celebrates the life and work of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino. With unprecedented loans from the Louvre, the Uffizi, the National Gallery, the Prado Museum and other museums, the exhibition and this film offer an unprecedented opportunity to see the full range of Raphael’s work.

The film deals with his life in Rome and includes footage of ancient Rome, which had such a strong influence on him, including footage of Nero’s Golden House, which Raphael himself visited.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at theparktheatre.org or by calling the box office at 603-532-8888. Tickets are also available at the theater prior to the film.

Carolyn Edwards’ Lunch at The Park meal begins at noon before the theater performance. The menu includes chilled gazpacho soup with garden vegetables, roast beef sandwich on brioche bun with fries, Greek salad and ginger biscuits. All of the theater’s refreshments, plus wine and beer, are available. Order by August 12 at parklunch.org.
