New Dodgers starter hits impressive mark in home debut with team

At the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers made an important move to strengthen their starting lineup. The team signed right-hander Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers.

Flaherty started Friday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates, making his home debut with his new team.

Unfortunately, he allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings, but that didn’t stop him from hitting a very impressive mark. The 28-year-old struck out 10 batters and took the win.

“Jack Flaherty hit double-digit Ks in his home debut!” Dodgers Territory wrote on Twitter.

Flaherty has had to contend with more than his fair share of injuries in recent years, but this year he looks much more like his old self.

He made his major league debut in 2017 with the St. Louis Cardinals and it didn’t take long for him to become a key member of their rotation.

But after several injuries and difficulties, he seems to be back in form, even though he had some problems on Friday against the Pirates. He is now 9-5 with a 2.97 ERA in 118 1/2 innings.

Flaherty also recorded 150 strikeouts and posted a WHIP of 1.00.

It will be interesting to see what impact Flaherty’s signing has on the Dodgers in the final stretch as they try to keep the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks at bay and secure another division title.
