Jane Seymour, “Dr. Quinn,” speaks at the HPU graduation ceremony

Jane Seymour, the actress who starred in the 1990s television drama “Dr. Quinn,” will deliver a commencement speech at High Point University’s undergraduate graduation ceremony on May 3, 2025, the university announced Tuesday.

Seymour won an Emmy for her role in the television movie Onassis: The Richest Man in the World and Golden Globes for her acting performance in Dr. Quinn and the television miniseries East of Eden.

Her film roles include Live and Let Die, A Deadly Dream, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Wedding Crashers.

“Our graduates will benefit from hearing from Jane Seymour, who rose to the top of her profession through her determination and hard work and remained there for more than five decades,” said HPU President Nido Qubein, according to a university press release.

In the press release, HPU noted that Qubein and Seymour have both previously received the Horatio Alger Award, which is given to “extraordinary leaders who have accomplished great things against all odds” and “embody the American dream.” The British-born actress became a U.S. citizen in 2005 and will receive the award in 2022.
