Perfect 2024 Fantasy Football Draft Strategy, Round by Round for 10-Team Leagues: Picks 8-10

Perfect 2024 Fantasy Football Draft Strategy, Round by Round for 10-Team Leagues: Picks 8-10

• Hoping an elite wide receiver drops: Three to four running backs are selected in the first round. Ideally, they are selected earlier so that wide receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown fall.

• Form a balanced team: Anyone who selects at the end of the first round has the opportunity to build a strong team without creating a significant weakness at any position.

Round 1, Picks 8-10: Draft a running back or wide receiver

According to consensus ADP, Breece Hall And Bijan Robinson are both top-6 picks, which is a little too high if Justin Jefferson And Amon-Ra St. Brown available. They are much safer bets in the first round. Even if the five best wide receivers are gone, the selection AJ Brown is a relatively safe choice in this area.

Primary goal: Justin Jefferson (Player profile)

Jefferson has been the most talented wide receiver in the league over the past few seasons, but he falls into the second half of the first round due to Minnesota Vikings‘ Quarterback change. Jefferson averaged 21.8 PPR points per game last season with Kirk Cousins and 18.6 without him. Ideally, Minnesota’s quarterback game will be Sam Darnold than it was last year with the backups.

Possible goals: AJ Brown, Jonathan Taylor, Puka Nacua, Jahmyr Gibbs, Garret Wilson

Round 2, Picks 11-13: Draft a running back or wide receiver

This is the first of many options someone will have in this area. It is too early for a quarterback or tight end. A wide receiver could be valuable, especially if Puka Nacua but most of the time the best player available is a running back. Only three or four are selected in the first round, leaving at least one top-five option for that pick.

Primary goal: Jahmyr Gibbs (Player profile)

Gibbs has always excelled in ideal situations. On perfectly blocked plays, when he could follow his intended point of attack and against seven or fewer men in the box, he ranked between the 95th and 99th percentile in PFF rushing grade. Last season, he ranked eighth in PPR points. It is hard for him to Christian McCaffrey level without more rushing attempts per game, but there is reason to believe his fantasy points can improve either through more touches, improved production in the receiving game, and/or even stronger support from the offensive line than before.

Possible goals: Puka Nacua, Garret Wilson, Davante Adams, Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley
