Raiders player Davante Adams rejects claims he is unhappy in Las Vegas

HENDERSON, Nevada – Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams took exception to recent statements by former NFL wideout DeSean Jackson that Adams is not “happy” in Las Vegas.

“At the end of the day, facts are facts and this is not a fact,” Adams said Wednesday as the Raiders prepared for their season opener at the Los Angeles Chargers.

“I’ve probably spoken to DeSean Jackson three or four times in my life, and I’ve never had a conversation with him (about this issue). And I blame that on my kids. I’ve never spoken to him about anything.”

Adams said the only person he shares feelings with is his wife.

“And she doesn’t let anything leak out and doesn’t let things like that end up in the media,” he said.

“If it doesn’t come first hand, it’s probably nonsense –”

Jackson, who played briefly for the Raiders in 2021, appeared on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Aug. 27 and was asked about Adams, whose appearance on the Netflix series “Receiver” often showed a frustrated player.

Add to that the fact that Adams missed time at OTAs and training camp and didn’t play in the tryout season – he returned home to be with his wife for the birth of their son – and Jackson voiced his opinion.

“I mean, you have Gardner Minshew, who was actually named the starting quarterback this year,” Jackson said. “This year is going to be tough. They don’t have the quarterback they want. I know they wanted a quarterback in this draft, but they couldn’t get their guy. So they obviously limited themselves to the one they have.”

“It’s tough because Davante and I talked, and man, I hate doing this, I don’t want to be the guy that says, ‘Oh, DJax said this and that.’ But at the end of the day, he’s unhappy. I mean, you come from Aaron Rodgers, then you come to the Las Vegas Raiders and now you have not only Jimmy G (Garoppolo), but you have your boy (Derek) Carr. It hasn’t really worked out… since the days at Fresno State, right? You think they’d come back and work it all out, but it just didn’t work out. So I just don’t think he’s really happy there.”

Adams said he almost released a video denying Jackson’s allegations but did not want to give the situation “attention” before being asked about it on Wednesday.

“But saying I’m angry or unhappy with this organization is just a bunch of bullshit designed to scare everyone off and use it as clickbait,” Adams said. “Everyone wants to see what Davante Adams has to say, and he’s mad in Vegas. If I was mad, I wouldn’t be here right now.”

“I don’t think any of you standing here before me feel that I want to leave this place. And if you do, you’re just feeding the crap that you’re feeding out there. And that’s not reality.”
