Two-storey house collapses in Faridabad due to heavy rains

Faridabad, Aug 29 (PTI) – A two-storey house in Ballabgarh in Faridabad collapsed due to rain on Thursday, police said.

According to police, the residents were awakened by rainwater seeping in and noticed cracks around the house. They immediately left the house and emerged from the collapse unharmed.

Four brothers – Shravan, Biru, Sanjit and Rohtash – lived with their families in the house in Chandpur village. The area experienced heavy rain on Thursday morning, police said.

The family then got up early to feed the animals. However, when they saw that the rainwater was filling the house, they suspected a crack in the wall. They took their children and ran out of the house. Shortly after, it collapsed, police added.

The family’s belongings were buried in the house and destroyed.

Village serpanch Surajpal alias Bhura said that the house has three rooms and a kitchen. The family falls under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category and are labourers by profession.

Ajit Singh, Block Development and Panchayat Officer of Tigaon, said they would visit the site on Friday.

He said if there is a BPL family, it will be included under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and a relief proposal will be sent to the government. PTI COR HIG
