Commanders fire employee who called NFL player a ‘stupid homophobe’ | Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have fired an employee after he made derogatory comments about players and fans in an undercover video on social media.

A team spokesperson said Thursday that vice president of content Rael Enteen is no longer with the team. Enteen was initially suspended after saying in a video posted by the O’Keefe Media Group that some players were “dumb as hell” and homophobic, and calling fans “high school alcoholics” and “mouth breathers.”

The team said Wednesday after the post came to light that “the language used in the video is contrary to our values at the Commanders organization.”

James O’Keefe, who founded the company last year, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the videos were recorded on two dates in Washington in June. O’Keefe said Enteen and the woman who filmed the interactions met on a dating app.

Enteen said in the video that “over 50% of our membership is white religious people and God says, ‘Fuck the gays.’ Your interpretation. I don’t believe any of it. Another large portion are low-income African-Americans who come from a community that is inherently very homophobic.”

He added: “The rest, let’s say 49%, are not necessarily homophobic, but that doesn’t mean they want to go public with a video saying, ‘Come to a gay pride parade.'”

Enteen was also filmed criticizing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, calling Goodell a “$50 million puppet” and the league’s social justice efforts hypocrisy.

Enteen, who had been on the team since 2020, also said in the video that he believes Jones “hates gays and blacks.”

In the video, Enteen says, “I don’t think the NFL commissioner hates gays or blacks. Jerry Jones, who actually runs the NFL, hates gays and blacks, in my opinion.”

The Cowboys did not respond to a request for comment.
