Michigan State should bring back Type of Way to honor Rich Homie Quan

Michigan State should bring back Type of Way to honor Rich Homie Quan

On Thursday, the Michigan State University football team lost a beloved player from the 2014 Rose Bowl victory over Stanford when rapper Rich Homie Quan tragically passed away at the age of 34.

I’ve seen a number of Spartans who attended this school in 2013-14 share on social media their memories of that season, of Rich Homie Quan, and the significance of his song “Type of Way” to that season.

In my opinion, Michigan State should bring back “Type of Way” as a permanent fixture in their football stadium to commemorate the life of Rich Homie Quan and celebrate the best team of the Mark Dantonio era.

We’ve already seen MSU bring back “Thunderstruck” as their entrance song. I think it would be great to find a time to play “Type of Way” during games or after wins to commemorate what was arguably the best season for the modern MSU football team.

We saw the last Mel Tucker administration try to introduce “Swag Surfing” as the football team’s new song, but I think “Type of Way” has become such a myth in the MSU community that it just makes sense to use it. And with the passing of Rich Homie Quan, it would be a fantastic way to honor a man who was dedicated to Michigan State.
