Jeff Morrow and WAFB’s First Alert Weather Team provide an update on what we’re tracking next as showers and storms move through our area.

This means the weather is expected to affect daily life and cause damage to property. Rain is expected to continue for the rest of the day and into tomorrow. There will be periods of heavy rain each day, leading to a local risk of flooding. We do not expect widespread flooding, but there will certainly be standing water in low-lying, poorly drained areas.

Rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches look possible, with locally higher amounts once this rain event ends. The rain event will end early Saturday as a cold front helps push the rain out of the area.

The cold front will bring a pleasant change in the weather next weekend. It will be drier, less humid and temperatures will be similar to those of early autumn. Daytime highs will remain around 27°C without clouds or rain. Morning temperatures early next week will drop to around 16°C.

The nice weather won’t last long, as it will slowly get damp again from Monday evening. From Tuesday next week, isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast again. Fortunately, the chance of rain and increasing cloud cover should keep the maximum temperatures below 30 °C over the next 10 days!
