Trump claims Harris is abandoning Israel in speech denigrating Jewish Americans who vote Democrat

In a speech to Jewish donors on Thursday, Trump repeatedly denigrated Jewish Americans who vote for Democrats. According to the Washington Post, he once said, “I don’t understand how anyone can support them – and I say this all the time – if you supported them and you were Jewish, you would have to have your head examined.”

Trump told the Republican Jewish Coalition: “They have been very bad to you.”

According to Reuters, he also said that a possible Harris presidency would have devastating consequences for Israel.

“You will be abandoned if she becomes president. And I think you have to explain that to your people… You will not have Israel if she becomes president,” Trump said, without providing evidence for the claim.

The Harris team did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump’s speech.

Harris closely aligned himself with Joe Biden’s strong support for Israel and rejected calls by some in the Democratic Party that Washington should reconsider its arms sales to Israel in light of the high Palestinian death toll in Gaza.

However, she called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Trump questions whether ABC, which is hosting the debate, will be fair. He says he will act differently depending on whether they are fair or not.

He falsely claims, without evidence, that the network is “known for its extreme hostility toward the people in this space.”

He says it will be an interesting evening. “You never know how someone will react,” he says.

He says: “ABC will try to annoy me.”

Hannity now asks if Trump is prepared for his debate with Kamala Harris next week.

He says he will “let them talk” just like he “let Biden talk.” He says: “There are people who say Biden is smarter than them, if that’s the case, we have a problem, OK,” he says.

A question that Hannity announces as “probably the last”—an indication of how edited this town hall meeting is, considering we’re only 15 minutes in—is asked by a voter about wokeness.

He says the military is incredible and there is “no wokeness” there.

Trump continues and finally comes to the “greatest enemy of this country,” namely the “fake news media.”

Trump speaks about his allegedly controversial visit on August 26 to Arlington National Cemetery, the resting place of more than 400,000 war veterans and their eligible dependents.

He says that “every single one” of the people there appreciated his presence.

The US Army publicly rebuked Trump campaign officials, accusing members of the Trump campaign of pushing aside an official who had told them that it was illegal to take photos at the graves of recently deceased military personnel.

Trump is asked if he believes it will be possible to undo the damage done by the Biden-Harris administration. The voter asking the question says he fears for his three growing sons.

Trump says the first thing he should do is pray. He calls the Democrats “stupid” and then quickly pivots to the immigration issue.

The Trump town hall meeting is airing now. It was recorded last night and is therefore not live. Unusually, Hannity did not take questions from the audience during last night’s live show, but promised to air it the next day. We’ll keep you updated on any major developments as they happen.

Fox News is scheduled to air the second half of Trump’s town hall with Sean Hannity in ten minutes. Unusually for a town hall whose purpose is for voters to ask a candidate questions, yesterday’s town hall ended before that could happen – instead it was just Hannity asking Trump questions.

The Trump campaign team has since said that Trump will hold a press conference tomorrow at noon in New York, where he was convicted.

The statement does not say what the press conference was referring to. It says:

“President Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America, will hold a press conference in New York, New York on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. EDT.”
