A video circulating online shows severe flooding on Golf Course Road in Gurgaon, where DLF’s luxury apartments worth Rs 100 crore are located.

Residents of Gurgaon battled flooded roads and traffic jams on Wednesday morning after a spell of rain brought the city to a standstill once again. The Gurgaon Municipal Development Authority (GMDA) said several teams were deployed to ensure speedy drainage of water after several major roads were submerged.

In one of the most upscale areas of Gurgaon, which recently made headlines with the sale of 100-crore apartments and luxury cars were seen driving through deep water. The scene was shot on Golf Course Road, one of the major arterial roads where floods affected traffic.

Former Meta employee Anushri Pawar shared a now-viral video of the flooded Golf Course Road on X, highlighting the condition of the roads outside the luxury residential projects.

“What should we call it? To the river or to the sea?” asked Pawar. “This is the state of the roads before the 100 crore camellias and magnolias on Golf Course Road in Gurgaon. This is the state of the roads after just half an hour of rain and people here are still buying flats for 100 crore,” she added.

Basic facilities are missing

The video shocked viewers on X, where it was shared this morning, with many asking why Gurugram still has drainage problems and criticising municipal authorities for their lack of preparedness.

“Some of the richest people in the country live here. But in Gurgaon, gated communities, no matter how fancy, can afford a functioning sewage system,” wrote X-user Patralekha.

“After Gurgaon turns into a water park every monsoon, swimming should be mandatory for corporate jobs in Gurgaon. If you can’t swim to work, you’re probably in the wrong city!” another person added.

“Isn’t this an indication that all major cities lack proper stormwater drainage system parallel to all roads? What we are seeing here is nothing but poor urban infrastructure with no stormwater drainage system,” says Hitendra Khatri.
