Isaiah will likely make a big move for the Baltimore Ravens

Isaiah will likely make a big move for the Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens will not go quietly into the night.

Entering the fourth quarter trailing 20-10 against the Kansas City Chiefs and not having accomplished much on offense since the first drive, the Ravens were on the verge of an 0-1 start. Until Isaiah Likely gave the team some much-needed momentum.

The third-year tight end intercepted a pass from Lamar Jackson, who rolled to the right to escape pressure, and eluded defenders for a 49-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to just three points.

Check out the highlights of the game:

Likely, a 2022 fourth-round pick out of Coastal Carolina, came on strong late last season. An injury to star tight end Mark Andrews thrust Likely into the starting lineup and he took full advantage, scoring six touchdowns in six games. Thanks to him, the Ravens’ offense rarely faltered.

In his eyes, however, this is only the beginning of his coming out party.

“I would say it helped to take the confidence with me,” Likely told reporters on Aug. 22. “Obviously you want to hold on to everything you’ve done (well) and obviously capitalize on the disadvantages you have, but this is a new year. We’ve set bigger goals because obviously not everything has gone the way we wanted it to, so obviously I keep in mind that what I did last year was obviously not enough. So I keep that in mind and understand that this is another year to get it done.”

Coming into this season, many expected the Ravens to use more two-tight end sets with arguably the best duo in football, and that’s what they did all night long. However, Likely actually finished ahead of former All-Pro Andrews. Likely has five receptions for a team-best 87 yards and a touchdown, while Andrews has just one catch for 11 yards.

So far, so good in terms of outbreak prediction.

Unfortunately for the Ravens, the Chiefs quickly answered with another touchdown, putting the lead at 27-17 early in the fourth quarter. Baltimore is not out of the race yet, but time is not on their side.
