Jalen Ramsey and Dolphins agree to three-year contract extension

Jalen Ramsey is once again at the top of the cornerback market.

According to multiple reports, Ramsey has agreed to a three-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid cornerback in the league.

According to initial reports, Ramsey’s contract is worth $72.3 million, of which $55.3 million is guaranteed.

Ramsey, 29, had the 2024 and 2025 seasons left on his contract. His $24.1 million per year surpasses the $24 million per year contract extension Patrick Surtain II agreed to with the Broncos earlier this week.

The Dolphins signed Ramsey from the Rams in March 2023. After missing some time with a knee injury, he started 10 games for Miami last season, defending five passes with three interceptions and was named a Pro Bowler for the seventh time.

Ramsey has made the Pro Bowl every season since his rookie year. He is also a three-time first-team All-Pro and won Super Bowl LVI with Los Angeles.

In 118 career games, he has recorded 97 passes defended with 22 interceptions.

Ramsey is dealing with a hamstring injury and hasn’t practiced so far this week. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Ramsey’s contract extension was agreed to a few days ago. But Ramsey wanted to be back on the practice field before the information was announced — meaning he’ll likely be back on the field Friday and Sunday in the season opener against Jacksonville.
