Philadelphia faces Green Bay in Brazil

Philadelphia faces Green Bay in Brazil

Two of the NFL’s most storied franchises will meet on Friday in a place the league has never been before: Brazil. Both the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles go into the duel with Super Bowl ambitions… and many questions.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love shined in his first full season as a starter in 2023 after two years of inconsistent playing time. He led the Packers to a 9-8 record with 4,159 yards passing, 32 touchdowns and a 64.2% completion rate. Are these stats legitimate and a sign of future glory or just a solid season? Another year of similar or better performance will secure his status as one of the league’s best young playmakers.

The Packers also have a new backfield, led by former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs. The 26-year-old led the NFL in rushing with 1,653 yards in 2022, but fell short with 805 yards last season. If he bounces back in a new environment, Green Bay could be a fearsome prospect.

The Eagles are also contenders once again. Thanks to a strong offense with quarterback Jalen Hurts, receiver AJ Brown and new running back Saquon Barkley – who was signed as a free agent from the New York Giants this offseason – they are one of the favorites in the NFC.

Philadelphia started 10-1 last season but slumped, losing five of their final six games before being eliminated in the first round of the postseason. How they begin the 2024 season will be critical to restoring confidence in their championship hopes.
