Altitude buys Toronto title “William Tell” for the UK and Ireland; SquareOne acquires rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Altitude has acquired the British-Irish rights to Nick Hamm’s William TellSquareOne Entertainment has taken over the film for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Both distributors are aiming to release the film in the first quarter of 2025. The film will celebrate its world premiere as a gala title on Tuesday, September 10, at the Toronto Film Festival.

Beta Cinema is selling the international rights to the film, WME is representing the US rights.

The film was previously sold to SF Studios (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland), Beta Fiction (Spain), Eagle Pictures (Italy), Dutch Filmworks (Benelux), Pris Audiovisuais (Portugal), Monolith Films (Poland), Cinemart (Czech Republic), Blitz (Former Yugoslavia), ADS (Hungary and Romania), Beta Film (Bulgaria), TFG (Greece), Ukraine (Top Film) and The Plot Pictures (Middle East and Turkey).

William Tell is based on Friedrich Schiller’s play in which European nations compete for supremacy in the 14th century.th Century and a formerly peaceful hunter is forced to take action when his family and his homeland are threatened by the Austrian king.

Claes Bang leads the cast, alongside Connor Swindells, Golshifteh Farahani, Jonah Hauer-King, Ellie Bamber, Rafe Spall, Emily Beecham, Ben Kingsley, Jonathan Pryce and Solly McLeod.

Swindells, Bamber and McLeod have all been mentioned Screen The British-Irish stars of tomorrow. William Tell will celebrate its European premiere at the Zurich Film Festival in October.
