Georgia school shooting: The suspected teenage mother’s criminal record is part of an emerging picture of a troubled family life

The 14-year-old Georgia high school student had a turbulent home life, new details about his mother’s criminal record reveal.

According to police and court records seen by Fox News Digital, the teen’s suspected mother, 43-year-old Marcee Anne Gray, had a long criminal record that included drug abuse and property damage.

The juvenile suspect accused of shooting two teachers and two students at Apalachee High School came from a divorced family. The 14-year-old lived with his father, Colin Gray, while his two younger siblings lived with their mother, Marcee Gray.

In November 2023, Marcee Gray was arrested for carving two words into the side of her husband’s truck and for illegal drugs.

The arrest warrant states that Gray had a glass jar of methamphetamine, a “baggie” of fentanyl, another “baggie” of several muscle relaxants and a glass pipe “for taking narcotics.”

The arrest warrant states that she concealed the identity of her Nissan Rogue vehicle by placing a plate for a Nissan Kick.

In December 2023, Marcee Gray was indicted and pleaded guilty to one count of using a license plate to conceal her identity, second-degree malicious damage to property, and trespassing/domestic violence.

Marcee Gray was charged under the state of Georgia’s First Offender Act, which allows eligible defendants to plead guilty without being convicted. Under the state’s First Offender Act, Gray served the first 46 days in jail instead of serving the full 5 years of her sentence.

She was on probation for the remainder of her sentence.

According to the documents, Gray was prohibited from having contact with her husband, Colin Gray, during her probation, except through third parties, for matters involving their children.

The 43-year-old was also required to participate in an intervention program against domestic violence and to abstain from drugs and alcohol.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the mother of the suspected teenage shooter had a long criminal record.

Gray was charged with a traffic violation in Forsyth County in 2014 and with speeding in Barrow County in 2008. She was also charged with a 2007 felony, including driving under the influence, the news outlet reported.

Court records obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution show she took a plea deal for the traffic violations and was sentenced to a $600 fine and 40 hours of community service.

The father of the juvenile suspect, Colin, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts Second degree murderfour counts of manslaughter and eight counts of child abuse, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Investigators have released few details about the father’s alleged role in the shooting, but previously stated that the teen’s parents are cooperating with law enforcement involved.

Father and son are expected to appear for a preliminary hearing in December. No charges have been filed against the mother in connection with the high school shooting.

It was unclear Friday who was representing the Grays, but Fox News Digital reached out to Marcee Gray for comment.
