We see more of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the new “Wicked” trailer

“Dear Ozians, the Wicked Witch of the West is dead,” says Ariana Grande’s Glinda at the beginning of the new trailer for Evil. “Let me tell you the whole story. Our paths crossed at school …”

Jon M. Chus Wicked: Part Oneis looking better and better the more we see of it, and the new trailer makes us even more excited for what is likely to be one of the biggest movies of the year.

The trailer focuses heavily on showing how this film takes us into the world we know and love from The Wizard of Oz. We see Elphaba and Glinda meet and get to know each other, we see Elphaba discover her magic, and we learn about the origins of the wicked witch.

“The best way to bring people together is to give them a really good enemy,” says the Wizard of Oz threateningly.

“Don’t be afraid,” Glinda says to Elphaba.

“The wizard should be afraid of me,” she replies.

The trailer also includes a lot of Erivo and Grande’s new version of the iconic song “Defying Gravity.” This new version of the legendary Broadway track is the most we’ve heard of it, and Grande and Erivo seem to have hit the nail on the head with it.

Wicked: Part One Other stars include Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle and Peter Dinklage. The film will be released on November 22nd.
