Eagles players praise new OC Kellen Moore

Philadelphia Eagles players spent the offseason learning the system put in place by new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and new quarterback coach Doug Nussmeier, rumors suggested that head coach Nick Sirianni is on the hot seat comes from the team Collapse at the end of last season.

Eagles offensive guard Landon Dickerson suggested in recent talks with Cayden Steele by NJ Advance Media for NJ.com that Moore could help the franchise do more than simply Return to the playoffs.

“I think the best way to describe it is like teaching a kid algebra,” Dickerson said of the way Moore taught his offense. “You wouldn’t teach a fifth-grader algebra right away. You would say, ‘Okay, we’ll start with addition and subtraction, then move on to multiplication and work our way up from there.’ That’s how it works.”

It is now no secret that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman Moore essentially forced Nussmeier to And New defensive coordinator Vic Fangio on Sirianni after the club lost five of its final six regular season games before suffering a 32-9 wild-card playoff loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Subsequent reports touched how the relationship between Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts allegedly became “fractured and unhealthy” when the Eagles fell apart in 2023.

Sirianni has passed into “more of a CEO-type role,” and that has seemingly allowed Moore and Nussmeier to take control of the offense along with Hurts. Eagles receiver AJ Brown told Steele that Moore makes his job as a wide receiver “easier” because the coordinator “gives us insight into the quarterback’s mind.”

Meanwhile, tight end Grant Calcaterra told Steele that Moore makes it “easy to look at different looks and learn about things” while watching film along with position coach Jason Michael.

“Kellen is a great teacher,” added practice squad quarterback Will Grier. “He is apparently very smart. I think he’s taken his experiences from everywhere he’s been and managed to combine them with what the Eagles have been good at lately. And I’m just trying to highlight those things and contribute what he contributes. He’s done a great job communicating with Jalen. I think they’re on the same wavelength.”

Some believe that Roseman could target former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick if the Eagles part ways with Sirianni next winter. However, in the modern NFL, young offensive talent is coveted by front offices for head coaching positions every offseason.

Perhaps Moore, 36, could be named as Sirianni’s replacement in January 2025 if the Eagles fail to reach the next NFC Championship Game.
